At its Dec. 15 regular meeting, the Uvalde CISD board set the date for the district's 2026 uniform election and addressed related governance items.

Administration outlined filing deadlines and early voting dates for the district's May election. After an initial motion that named May 4, Trustee Suarez restated his motion to recommend approval of Saturday, May 2, 2026 as the uniform election date; the board approved the corrected date.

The board also approved a resolution designating the superintendent authority to contract with Uvalde County to run the May 2, 2026 Board of Trustees election and discussed the county's practice of splitting actual election costs for joint elections.

Separately, trustees debated a proposed amendment to board operating procedures that would relax the one-year tenure requirement for certain officer roles in the event of large turnover following the May election. Trustees discussed practical scenarios and legal/operational implications and agreed to withdraw the immediate motion and bring drafted language back for consideration in January to allow time for written language and scenarios to be reviewed.

The board also approved rescheduling the January regular meeting from Jan. 12 to Jan. 20, 2026 to accommodate reporting and submission deadlines.
