Vermillion’s City Council adopted an updated ambulance (EMS) fee schedule after staff presented an annual review of fees and recommended changes to reflect allowable reimbursement rates.
Chief Callahan said the department uses allowable Medicare and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield reimbursement figures and comparable billing from other agencies to set rates. He told the council that changes for the 2026 fiscal year include modest increases to airplane transportation, basic life support, advanced life support and a critical-care bundle, and that a records-on-CD fee was added where no fee previously existed. “Keeping fees reasonable, yet recouping as much reimbursement as possible helps to supplement the cost of operating the department,” Chief Callahan said.
There were no public comments on the resolution. Councilor Holland moved to approve the resolution and Councilor Murrah seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.
