Crown Point approves workers' compensation renewal with IPEP for 2025–26

Landon Murray of Foundation Risk Partners presented the city’s workers’ compensation renewal proposal for the term Dec. 15, 2025–Dec. 15, 2026, recommending continued participation with the Indiana Public Employers Plan (IPEP).
Murray outlined the premium drivers: audited payroll figures, a projected 5% payroll inflation factor and an experience modification factor rising from about 0.96 to roughly 1.11 based on recent loss history. He explained the city experienced an outlier year of large claims, which increased the four-year loss ratio, and that underwriters applied substantial scheduled credit during negotiation. "They're actually applying $76,009.86 to offset some of that premium increase," Murray said, and he described IPEP as the most competitive option for the city.
After brief discussion and confirmation that the board wanted the renewal approved at the higher estimated premium to be conservative, the board moved, seconded and approved the workers' compensation renewal.
