Crown Point adopts updated stormwater technical standards to align with state permitting

City engineering, with consultant Luke from Christopher Perkin Engineering, presented updates to the stormwater ordinance companion technical standards manual designed to align local permitting procedures with state IDEM changes and newer rainfall data.
Luke explained the updates are largely administrative — spelling out the permitting steps so city and state processes coexist — and that the largest technical change is the update to rainfall data: "We're now using... NOAA Atlas 14," which increases the 100-year, 24-hour rainfall depth used for site design from the older value to about 7.5 inches in the updated standard. He emphasized the updates do not change which developments trigger stormwater detention but provide clearer procedural guidance for applicants.
After questions about the rainfall data, the board moved to approve adoption of the technical standards and voted in favor.
