Council sets Jan. 12 public hearings for two annexation agreements

Staff told the council the annexation language is the same for both agreements except for the boundary descriptions and noted proposed maps were included in the meeting packet. Staff said other governing bodies are expected to take related action and hold their own hearings in December, while the village hearing is planned for January.
Unidentified Speaker 3 moved to call a public hearing for an annexation agreement with the City of Winston‑Salem; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The council then moved and approved a separate motion to call a public hearing for the annexation agreement with the Town of Lewisville for the same date and time.
The motions establish the hearing dates; the council did not take final annexation action at the Nov. 24 meeting. Residents and interested parties will have the opportunity to comment at the scheduled Jan. 12 hearings, and staff will provide the proposed maps with the public hearing notices.
