District financial report shows revenue shortfall, fund balance at about 33%

Miss Hughes presented the district's monthly finance report for the period ending Oct. 31, 2025, telling trustees the district recorded $3,384,263 in year-to-date revenue for the district maintenance fund and $6,215,644 in expenditures for the month of October.
"The revenue versus expenditures for district maintenance ... revenue dollars 3,384,263. Expenditures, dollars 6,215,644," Miss Hughes said as she summarized the numbers for the board. She noted the difference is approximately $2.8 million and that the district's fund balance was roughly 33% of expenditures for October.
Board members asked how low the fund balance might go before additional revenue arrives. Miss Hughes said the fund could "bottom out" by roughly $6 million more in expenditures before money related to 'the Avalon' is expected to arrive in February. She said she will begin forecasting through December to show where the rest of the fiscal year may land.
After questions about the claims docket and the monthly projection, Speaker 5 moved to accept the financial report and the motion carried on a voice vote. Board members also requested continued monthly reporting on work orders and maintenance priorities to improve oversight of facilities spending and staffing.
The board did not provide specific vote tallies in the meeting minutes; motions were approved by voice vote with those present saying "Aye."
