North Polk FFA students recounted their trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, describing tours of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Ozark Fisheries, career fair contact with colleges and employers, and takeaways they plan to bring back to local FFA programming.
Members of the North Polk FFA told the school board they gained leadership skills, project ideas and career exposure during a recent trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. The students presented photographs and described sessions, site tours and a career fair that introduced them to college programs and agricultural businesses.
"We are members of the North Polk FFA that got the chance to go to the National FFA Convention, and we're gonna run through some of the stuff we did and personal favorites of ours," said Kate Moulbauer, a student presenter. Students highlighted tours of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Ozark Fisheries and said those site visits helped them think about possible SAE (supervised agricultural experience) projects.
Board members asked how the students planned to apply the conference experiences. Students said they brought back ideas for soil-judging teams, agronomy projects and public-speaking practices. One board member urged the seniors to mentor younger students and to encourage scholarship applications through the FFA alumni group.
The presentation concluded with the board thanking the students and wishing seniors good luck. The board noted the trip gives district students exposure to leadership and career pathways that can be integrated into North Polk programming.
