Middleton — The Middleton Tourism Commission approved a plan May 20 to publish a new city street map through an ad-supported arrangement with Knight/Night Turner, authorizing staff to proceed while noting the contract would be contingent on city finance and city attorney approval.
Staff said the Chamber had retired its city map project and that Middleton had been asked to take it on. The proposed run is 5,000 copies intended to last about three years; ad sales and listings would pay most of the production cost. Staff estimated the commission might need to cover up to roughly $3,000 if ad revenue proved insufficient.
Commissioners discussed distribution (hotels, museum, library) and fairness to retail districts; staff said listings and multiple ad-panel sizes would be offered so neighborhoods and businesses could participate. “We’re going to have a little bit of wiggle room of doing their, like, business card size or half a panel or a full panel as well as listings,” staff said.
A motion to proceed with the map publishing agreement passed on a voice vote. Staff noted the agreement will be presented to city finance and the common council and that final execution is contingent on the city attorney’s review.
What’s next: staff will forward the agreement to city finance and the city attorney and begin the ad-sales process if the contract proceeds.
