Fencing project behind schedule after subcontractor change; gates partially operational

Summary
District staff told the board that a fencing contract with Timbose Construction is delayed after a subcontractor was fired; three gates were installed but only one is fully operational, and staff are sourcing a new subcontractor to complete hardware installation.
District staff updated the board on capital projects Oct. 1, reporting that the fencing contract with Timbose Construction is behind schedule because the original subcontractor for gate hardware was dismissed. Three gates are onsite; hardware installation is complete on one gate, while two gates still require hardware and commissioning.
A staff member said Timbose "ended up having to fire the sub" and that the district is seeking a replacement subcontractor to finish installing hardware and ensure gates operate properly. The board discussed related drainage and levee erosion behind a property that could require relocating the back gate. Staff said the levee, built around 2011, shows signs of erosion in places and that flood risk to the site is more likely from overflow coming across the adjacent field than from the back side.
Board members noted that the fence at Dana is down and that some fencing work will be bundled into a multi‑site bid rather than isolated repairs. Staff said the district will coordinate bids to include several fence repairs and finish remaining hardware work once a new subcontractor is contracted.
