Fairfax council recognizes Officer Matt Moore for professionalism in multiple letters

The Village of Fairfax council on Dec. 21 read three communications recognizing Officer Matt Moore for professional conduct during police contacts and for assisting community members.
A letter read into the record thanked Moore and firefighters for assistance at the Fairfax Police Association’s Dec. 6 toy drive and cited coordination with Ryan Nacioni and the Marymount School District. Sergeant Rich Kaiser relayed a phone report from Justin Salter that Salter felt comfortable during a traffic stop conducted by Officer Moore despite having a firearm in the vehicle and that Moore’s conduct eased the situation.
Lieutenant Rodney Nachioni submitted letters from an arrested person and that person’s parent expressing appreciation for Officer Moore’s handling of a difficult situation and for speaking positively to prosecutors and the judge on the subject’s behalf. One letter noted the parent hoped the attention would help the subject avoid eviction.
The mayor and council members publicly thanked the police, firefighters and volunteers for the toy drive and praised Officer Moore’s professionalism. No disciplinary matters or complaints were discussed during the recognitions.
Council did not take formal action on the communications beyond acknowledging and entering them into the record.
