Superintendent Greathead announced to the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District Board of Education that he has formally tendered his resignation, effective June 30, 2026, after 15 years in the role.
"After 15 years, I have formally tendered my resignation as the superintendent of the Woodhaven Brown Sound School District effective 06/30/2026," Greathead said. He told the board there is "still a lot of work to be done between now and June" and that he looks forward to working with the board on a superintendent search and transition plan.
District administration said it consulted the Michigan Association of School Boards and that no formal board action or vote is required at this time to accept the resignation. Board members expressed regret and appreciation during member comments, and the board chair said the board will take its responsibility for hiring seriously and keep the community informed as the process proceeds.
The board subsequently moved into a closed session under the Michigan Open Meetings Act for personnel matters; a roll-call vote to recess to closed session passed with multiple 'Yes' votes recorded. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Jan. 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Board Office.
