Tracy Reisinger, speaking for Warren County Schools, told the board the district currently offers 19 high-school programs of study and several middle-school STEM pathways and dual-enrollment partnerships that give students postsecondary credit.
Reisinger said the district partners with TCAT and MTSU for courses that can yield industry credentials and noted an ongoing partnership with Nissan through a Center of Excellence. "We are one of four high schools in the state of Tennessee that are actually a Nissan student of excellence," she said, describing opportunities for field trips and workplace learning.
Reisinger provided recent industry-certification metrics: in the 2023–24 school year the district administered 15 different industry certifications and reported roughly 730 students earned at least one certification; in 2024–25 the district offered 13 certifications with 487 students tested and 502 certifications earned (some students earn multiple credentials). She added that every ninth grader takes the OSHA-10 exam as part of foundational CTE coursework.
She also described the planned CTE career center. The center will be painted and renovated with new flooring; its interior will be organized into nine themed career hubs that group the 19 programs of study (for example, multiple advanced-manufacturing areas such as machining and welding will be grouped under an advanced manufacturing hub). The design includes a virtual-reality zSpace room, custom seating, a model of the district food truck and other instructional labs. Reisinger said the district is obtaining equipment quotes and will begin purchasing instructional supplies after bids are awarded.
Board members asked about class-size thresholds and demand. Reisinger said typical minimum enrollment targets are about 17 students for in-district classes, with postsecondary partnership classes often aiming for 12–15 and a maximum of 25.
The board did not take a vote on program adoption at the meeting; the presentation served as an informational update and to seek ongoing board awareness as the district finalizes career-center bids and equipment purchases.
