Chief facilities management officer Tammy Zimmerman and zoning advisory committee chair Tyler Rogers reviewed community engagement (including meetings in English and Spanish), described three zoning options, and recommended an option that splits Dodson Elementary’s attendance area and assigns the Longley Triangle to the new Pine campus elementary. Rogers said the committee prioritized listening to principals, PTAs and families and made accommodations — including translated materials — after community feedback indicated Spanish language access was critical.
Trustees noted transportation considerations for the Green/Longley Triangle and asked staff to ensure bus service where intersections or walk zones present safety issues. Trustee Hull moved to approve the advisory committee’s recommendation; the motion carried 7–0.
Zimmerman said additional rezoning proposals (including interim arrangements for Corbett and other schools) will be brought forward in subsequent board meetings as repurposing and modernization timelines progress.
