Addison SD 4 board approves final 2025 tax levy, personnel actions, donation and grant application

At its Nov. 19 meeting the Addison SD 4 Board of Education voted on several fiscal and administrative items, including a final tax-levy resolution, personnel approvals, a donation offer to boost district cybersecurity, and authorization to apply for a state maintenance grant.
Ms. Morgasey presented the district’s final tax-levy request for 2025, explaining the tax-cap formula that uses the prior-year levy, the lesser of CPI or 5%, and new property. She said the district’s proposed extension increased from about $36.3 million last year to about $38.1 million this year (a roughly $1.8 million difference) and told the board, "our property tax rate is going down." The board approved the final levy by roll call.
The board also approved routine financial motions on accounts payable ($2,656,508.94 for November 2025) and payroll ($7,420,145.66 for October 2025), and it approved the personnel report that included hires, resignations, retirements and leaves as presented by the administration.
On donations, the board considered a no-cost offer from Trentopoulos to provide an API data-feed connection integrated with the district’s FortiGate configuration to strengthen cybersecurity. Administration estimated the annual value of the contribution at $57,000 and recommended acceptance. The board approved the donation; one member recorded an abstention.
The administration requested authority to submit an application under the Illinois State Board of Education School Maintenance Grant (SMPG), which offers a dollar-for-dollar match up to $50,000 for qualified projects. The district said it intends to apply with resurfacing the Army Trail gym as the proposed project; the board approved authority to submit that application.
Other approved items included Citizens Advisory Committee membership updates and standard meeting minutes and consent items. The meeting closed after public comment and an adjournment vote.
