District staff briefed the board on the California School Dashboard and two elementary sites presented their School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) updates.
The Dashboard presenter (Speaker 10) explained Robla’s 2025 results: the district remained in the yellow for English language arts and math, chronic absenteeism remains high, suspensions increased for the students‑with‑disabilities group (triggering differentiated assistance), and English Learner progress improved from orange to green. The presenter walked trustees through the 5×5 movement grid that determines color change and noted two informational indicators added to the Dashboard (science status and teacher assignment/credentialing via TAMO); Robla’s teacher clear‑credential rate was 72.2% in the presenter’s slide.
Taylor Elementary Principal Michelle Benjamin described school‑level actions tied to recent gains in ELA: expanded phonics screening (K–2), use of Freckle and STAR data, Sac State fellows placed at Taylor (three student fellows assisting teachers), extended‑day interventions, parent education nights, and a three‑year literacy partnership (Genius Network) that includes coaching and stipends. Taylor also reported PBIS Gold recognition and increased parent engagement.
Bell Avenue’s principal highlighted GLAD curriculum units, a district focus on writing and daily 30‑minute writing blocks, stronger collaboration between special education and general education teachers, Lexia for reading practice, and active family events supported by a new Bell Community Club (BCC) and a community liaison who works daily on attendance and family outreach.
Both principals described progress for specific student subgroups and said they will continue targeted interventions and family outreach to reduce chronic absenteeism and improve academic outcomes.
