Commission accepts two donations; staff reports on skate-park soil borings, library-recreation center updates and upcoming meetings

Parks staff presented two donations during the Nov. 20 meeting: $200 from the Riverside Disc Golf Club for improvements to the Riverside Disc Golf Course, and $10,000 from the Early Risers Kiwanis of West Bend for the Library Recreation Center (the staff report identified the $10,000 as the final two installments of a previously pledged $50,000 commitment). A commissioner moved to accept the donations; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the donations by voice vote.
In reports, staff said GrindLine hired a firm to take soil borings for the new skate park; initial borings were completed on Monday and staff expected results for the remaining borings soon. Staff set the next community meeting with GrindLine for Jan. 10 and said they would publicize it on social media. Other updates included completion of replacement flooring in Studio Room 2 at the Library Recreation Center, progress on a mural for the Lac La Bron shelter, ongoing lifeguard course instruction and preparations for the ice rink and January swim lessons.
Chair also noted that Mike Inch won the 2025 Community Impact Award; staff closed with a rundown of upcoming community events including a Thanksgiving turkey truck, the Christkindl market and the holiday parade.
