Commission approves Eagle Scout project to replace three archery targets at 512 Municipal Drive

Colin Healy, a member of Boy Scout Troop 226, asked the West Bend Park and Recreation Commission to approve his Eagle Scout project to replace three target stands at the archery range at 512 Municipal Drive. "I will be replacing the 10 yard, 20 yard, and 25 yard target stand," Healy said, adding the approximate total cost would be "approximately $1,900" and that he planned to fundraise through donations and brat fries.
Healy told commissioners he budgeted a contingency for cost overruns and planned to finish fundraising by early spring and begin construction in May, with an installation target of May 16, weather permitting. Parks staff asked that Healy provide a final design for approval by staff before construction begins.
A commissioner made a motion to approve the project; the motion was seconded and the commission voted to carry the approval. The commission and staff emphasized that final design and installation timing remain contingent on staff review and weather-related constraints.
The project aligns with planned archery-range upgrades supported by a DNR grant the parks department said will be available after August; staff said the Scout project would complement that work. Healy said any funds remaining after project costs would be donated to the city.
