Project Share, a volunteer‑led program that partners with school social workers, told the Board of Education it supports 155 children across Manhasset schools and raised nearly $26,000 in 10 days to buy gift cards, groceries and essentials for families this holiday season.
Meg Moyn, who leads Project Share, described a pop‑up shop where community groups and student clubs donated coats, toiletries and toys and families shopped anonymously for needed items. She credited teachers, parent volunteers, student groups and community partners for the rapid fundraising and said the effort provided gift cards and groceries to every family in the program.
Project Share operates through referrals from school social workers, Moyn said, which keeps requests anonymous. Board members thanked Project Share and noted other SCA activities, including support for music‑program directors and extended‑extras classes. The board recorded the community contribution as an important example of local support for students with financial need.
