Nikki Hanson, assistant superintendent of e5 learning, presented administration’s recommendation to approve the elementary boundary redesign for the 2026–27 school year. Hanson and Superintendent Lori Putnam framed the item as the culmination of a multi-month process that included stakeholder engagement, modeling tools and community input sessions.

Board members acknowledged the difficulty and emotion that redistricting decisions carry. One board member described a personal experience of a family transition during immersion program moves and said that while it is disruptive, the board had followed a documented process with multiple feedback opportunities. Members emphasized the district’s use of updated technology for mapping and analysis, the communication plan implemented during the review period, and the compromises inherent in redistricting to balance enrollment, programming and transportation.

A motion to approve the elementary boundary redesign was made and seconded; the board approved the recommendation by roll-call vote. Administration will proceed with implementation steps, notifications to families, and transportation adjustments as indicated by the redesign.
