Mason County commissioners and tribal representatives met in the commission chambers to discuss the countycomprehensive plan update, with tribal leaders urging close government-to-government coordination on shoreline protections and enforcement.
Kel Rowan, director of Mason Countycommunity development, said the state requires a comprehensive-plan update every 10 years and that the countyis planning with a 20-year growth projection. "Our state requires us to update our comp plan, every 10 years now," Rowan said, and staff and consultant SCJ Alliance are leading the draft work with long-range planner Marissa Watson coordinating the countyeffort.
