"It amounts to about $372 and just call it good," a staff presenter said, recommending that solid waste cover the shortfall and credit the vouchers against the payment.
County counsel Tim Whitehead told commissioners he did not consider the reimbursement a prohibited gifting, which satisfied legal concerns raised during the briefing. Commissioners praised the cleanup work and discussed possible program expansion or contractor incentives to broaden cleanup support in future years.
Staff said they would process the reimbursement, note the item to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC), and consider a year-end acknowledgement for volunteers and partner organizations including public-health collaborators and Waste Management.
No formal vote was recorded during the briefing; staff will handle the reimbursement administratively and brief commissioners as needed.
