Commission approves two Comcast fiber extensions in Farragut

The Farragut Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve two Comcast-related utility extensions, clearing a small conduit extension to serve a single business on Concord Road and a longer fiber build along Brooklawn Street and Neptune Drive.
Staff described the first request as a short extension of half-inch fiber and a new 2-inch conduit to provide service to 130 Concord Road. For the larger project, staff said the proposal involves about 2,700 linear feet of 1/2-inch fiber in a new 2-inch conduit, and includes a directional bore under Brooklawn to service Pinnacle Bank at 241 Brooklawn. "This project... involves about 2,700 linear feet of half inch fiber in a new 2 inch conduit," staff said while explaining the Brooklawn route and the need to update plans to show the bore and remove references to open trenching.
Both projects will be constructed by Source Broadband (also referenced as the contractor on both items) and staff recommended approval subject to obtaining right-of-way permits and, in the Brooklawn case, submission of a revised plan that shows the bore and clarifies trenching methods. Commissioners asked staff to ensure coordination with existing utilities and traffic-control plans; staff confirmed that coordination and permit review will address those items.
Motions to approve both items were made, seconded and passed unanimously. Staff noted the usual right-of-way permitting and permit conditions will govern construction.
