Commissioners approved a supplemental adjustment to Mason County’s 2025 budget that raises general-fund authorized expenditure appropriations by $1,735,054 and increases appropriations in funds other than the general fund by $644,500.
Jennifer Beyerly of Support Services told the board this is the second supplemental request of the year and walked through line-item changes, including a $9,000 revenue and $5,554 expenditure increase for the WSU department, $10,000 for facilities natural-gas costs tied to the Washington Climate Act fee, $9,500 for district court interpreter fees, $60,000 to courthouse security connected with the new district court building, and a $350,000 increase for adult felony public defense hourly fees. Beyerly said the $1,300,000 increase in nondepartmental revenue and expense reflects higher emergency communications tax receipts and offsetting disbursements to MaceComm.
A commissioner moved to approve the supplemental request "as presented," after staff clarified a signature-page wording that mistakenly said "decrease." The motion passed by voice vote; the record does not show a roll-call tally.
The board directed staff to ensure the signature materials match the approved increases prior to final execution.
