South Charleston City Council on a routine agenda vote approved a resolution to award contract 106-16-01 for a generator to support improvements at the Liberty Street lift station and separately approved finance-committee recommendations for city purchases and contracts.
The council voted to approve the resolution awarding the Jefferson Creek generator contract for the South Charleston Sanitary Ward’s Liberty Street lift station. City staff said pumps for the project were purchased from a sole-source provider, but the generator required competitive bidding and council approval to move forward.
In separate, roll-call votes the council unanimously approved an asphalt and site-work award for $239,751.00; the finance committee said the work is within the fiscal year 2026 street department budget and will be paid from general funds. The same roll call approved purchase of a 2024 Ram ProMaster 15-passenger conversion van from Dutch Miller at $73,373.50 for the community center, also budgeted in FY2026 general funds.
The finance committee representative summarized the recommendations and confirmed the bids were obtained in accordance with the city charter and code. Council members recorded affirmative roll-call votes for each item; the clerk pronounced the actions unanimous.
The generator resolution and the procurement approvals concluded the capital and purchasing items on the agenda; staff said the generator award completes the bidding portion for the lift-station rehabilitation project and authorized procurement to proceed.
