The council used part of its Dec. 7 meeting to recognize community achievements and public servants.
Council members presented a surprise tribute to Councilwoman Leslie Herrick in gratitude for her eight years of service. The council also issued a resolution recognizing the Divine Child High School football team for winning the Michigan Division 4 state championship (Nov. 28 at Ford Field). Coach, players and alumni were thanked; the council read player names who received All‑State honors and noted a city celebration and parade.
Separately, the council extended recognition to Abir Mahana and her mobile cardiovascular imaging service for expanding access to coronary CTA/FFR services in Dearborn and Southeast Michigan. Abir Mahana described early-detection AI analysis and mobile services across nine cities in the region, and the police chief thanked her for offering no‑charge CT scans to first responders previously.
