Members of the Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical School Committee recognized student athletes and club participants during its December meeting.

Student representative Anna Nibona reported that SkillsUSA school-wide technical assessments took place in December and that the highest-scoring students will represent the school at district competition in March. "These assessments launch the SkillsUSA competition year," Nibona said. She also noted a National Technical Honor Society food drive running Dec. 10'0'2 to benefit the school's food pantry and a holiday show to be livestreamed Dec. 23.

The committee invited both the boys and girls cross country teams and their coaches to the meeting. Head coach Matt Murphy and assistants Nick Villani and Peter Fortunato stood with athletes who each introduced themselves and outlined season highlights. The teams were CAC champions; the girls captured the MIAA Division 3 all-state championship, the first in school history. Coach Matt Murphy was recognized for his role in the season's results.

Model United Nations students and advisers were also honored after the UMass Lowell conference, where the club earned best delegation and several individual awards. Club president Anna Devona said growth in membership and adviser support helped the team achieve its results.

The committee's recognitions were primarily ceremonial; no formal policy actions were taken in these presentations. The meeting moved on after expressions of congratulations and thanks to advisers and coaches.
