The Indian Head Park Board of Trustees on Dec. 11 approved a trio of liquor-license ordinance changes to reflect local business turnover and incoming applicants.
Trustees voted to reduce the number of Class 3A licenses (Ordinance 2025-23) from two to one after Willow Hills ceased operations, and they approved related motions to reduce and then increase Class A licenses so the village can accommodate a new applicant.
Brandon Fleisher, an administrative intern, explained that reducing a license count is standard practice when a restaurant ceases operations and that a new business can later apply for and receive a license. Owners of the incoming business introduced themselves at the meeting; one owner said, "We purchased Sorrento and the old Elba location. We're planning on opening if we get approval, January 1 to make it just an easy transition." He added that his family has been in the pizzeria business for decades and plans to bring those recipes and experience to the village.
Trustees approved the ordinance changes by roll-call votes and directed that, upon board approval of the ordinance to increase a license, the liquor commissioner will issue a license to the new business once application requirements are met.
The board also noted that license transfers and applications are subject to the standard review and that additional meetings or paperwork may be required before a license is formally issued.
