Summary
Council approved multiple items including rezoning and buffer/code amendments, confirmed appointments and moved one trees ordinance back to first reading; CA 8 (right of first refusal on 105 Ashley Muse) was pulled for discussion.
At its regular meeting the Ann Arbor City Council approved a series of routine and substantive items and confirmed appointments.
Consent and appointments: The council confirmed appointments presented on Nov. 6 (including Brian Weinert to the Local Officers Compensation Commission and KC Walbridge to the Employees Retirement System Board of Trustees) after a motion by Councilman Connell and a second by Council member Regina. The consent agenda was approved with the exception of CA 8, which was pulled for separate discussion.
Rezoning and ordinances: Council approved B1 (rezoning 1 acre at 1155 Arlington Boulevard to R1A). Council approved B2 (rezoning 5.7 acres at 2600 Pontiac Trail as part of the Village of Ann Arbor project), which staff said will be part of a larger project expected to bring about 600 units. Council approved B3, which amended the marijuana buffer rules to preserve a minimum 100-foot buffer between marijuana retail and K–12 schools (and to route other variance review through the special exception use process). Council member Ackman proposed changes to B4 (chapter 40, trees and vegetation) focused on private property sight-line standards and a 30-inch sight-triangle height limit; that amendment rendered B4 a first reading and it will return for second reading and another public hearing.
Airport advisory committee: The council appointed Wayne Powell to the airport advisory committee; the resolution passed with 11 council members present, meeting the 7-vote requirement.
What happens next: CA 8 (right of first refusal to purchase and resell the affordable unit at 105 Ashley Muse) was pulled for discussion with staff; B4 will return as a first reading with proposed amendments and a subsequent public hearing and second reading scheduled later.
