Several procurement and contract‑authorization ordinances to allow purchasing without formal advertising for certain suppliers and to authorize multi‑year software maintenance agreements were also placed on consent.
Two items drew separate roll calls after committees recommended suspension of rules and favorable reports. Item 11 (offered by Councilman Fusco) amends the Copley‑Akron Joint Economic Development District agreement to temporarily include three Summit County parcels (parcels listed verbally in the item) during construction. The council suspended the rules and, after roll call, the ordinance passed 12 to 1; Councilmember Wilson recorded a nay vote.
Item 12 (offered by Councilman McKittrick) authorizes the mayor or designee to enter into an agreement with Summit County to board City of Akron prisoners. The committee report was favorable, rules were suspended, and a roll call produced a 12 to 1 tally with Wilson again recorded as the lone nay.
After votes, the council announced committee meeting times and assignments for standing committees including Budget & Finance, Public Safety, Parks & Recreation, Planning & Economic Development, Housing & Neighborhood Assistance and Health & Social Services. The meeting concluded after brief remarks and a motion to adjourn.
