Kings Park honors AP Capstone winners and student programs; holiday events and drives announced
The board meeting opened with a celebration of student achievement at Kings Park High School and across the district.

Principal Jennifer Martino recognized 16 students who earned the AP Capstone Diploma and four additional students who earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate during the 2024–25 school year. She said 51 students were recognized as AP Scholars, AP Scholars with Honor and AP Scholars with Distinction. "These are extraordinary accomplishments," Martino said, describing the Capstone program’s emphasis on long‑term research, presentations and scholarly writing.

Martino also presented National School Development Council awards to two students for academic growth and leadership, highlighted the postgraduate office services program (more than 50 projects since October supporting school events), and announced a ‘‘little library’’ installed by the National English Honor Society.

Student board member Valentina summarized a busy December schedule for elementary and middle schools: Polar Express Day on Dec. 23 at Fort Salonga, Parkview’s holiday boutique and toy drive, RJO winter assemblies and performances, and high‑school activities including a blood drive and the theater production Sherlock Holmes. Valentina also noted club community service projects and upcoming auditions and competitions.

Mr. Bianco and other board members thanked staff, volunteers and community partners for events such as the annual turkey trot (reported attendance over 2,000) and the Kings Park Chamber tree and menorah lighting.
