The Kings Park Board of Education on Dec. 9 approved the award of a bundle of contracts to build a new bus garage and transportation facility, including electric-vehicle charging infrastructure and demolition of the current garage.
Dr. Craig, presenting the recommendation, said the eight contracts included in the package total $7,547,992 and that the bids came in below the budgeted amount. He said the district anticipates a kickoff meeting before the holiday break and planned to begin site work in January 2026.
"These will encompass our new bus garage, our new EV charging stations, and the demolition of the existing building," Dr. Craig said.
The motion to approve the recommended bids was moved and seconded and the board voted in favor.
The project will add electric‑vehicle charging capability for the district fleet and replace the aging transportation facility; specific construction phasing and contractor names were not detailed in the board discussion recorded in the transcript. The administration said further scheduling and logistics will be shared at upcoming meetings as the project moves from procurement to construction.
