City staff briefed the Dalton City Mayor and Council on two airport construction change orders at the Dec. 1 meeting. Andrew (staff) said the taxiway rehabilitation required additional subgrade materials — specifically No. 57 and No. 4 stone — covered by the original project budget, and the council approved change order No. 1.
Andrew also described change order No. 7 on the airport hangar development with Integrated Builds, citing a $20,780 total to add interior sheet metal, two fire-rated doors, extra conduit and additional sidewalk at the 86-by-120 area. Staff told the council the cost is covered by an underrun from earlier change order No. 1 and recommended approval; the council moved, seconded and approved the hangar change order.
Staff emphasized the additional work was required to address construction needs and that both changes fit within existing project budgets. The city did not provide roll-call vote tallies in the meeting record; the minutes reflect council approval following motion and second.
