DeSoto County board approves roofing contracts, activity bus purchase and finance reports

The DeSoto County Schools Board of Education voted Dec. 4 to approve facilities and procurement items included on the consent and new-business agendas, including contracts with Dynamic National Roofing and Renovations and an activity bus purchase for the CareerTech program.

Staff reported that the Lake Carmel Middle School gym roof repair reopened for bids on Oct. 30 and received 11 bids; staff recommended the lowest and best bid from Dynamic National Roofing and Renovations. The board moved, seconded and approved the contract by voice vote.

A second motion approved a contract for gym-roof work at Lake Cornwood (the transcript contains inconsistent facility names). Staff also presented an application to purchase a new activity bus under state contract for CareerTech; the bus is budgeted in vocational funds and to be paid in part with industry grant funds and pending Mississippi Department of Education approval.
