Committee hears slow progress on Yellow Banks disc golf; river log removal discussed

Committee members heard a progress report on the Yellow Banks disc-golf course: the wood mats ordered months earlier have arrived but placement and brush-clearing remain to be scheduled, with much of the heavy brush work relying on volunteer labor.
Dan Higginbotham was noted as present to discuss a group of logs lodged in a side channel near the course. Staff said the village contracted private contractors in 2012 to remove river logs and stumps to promote river use, but since then most removals have been carried out by volunteers. Staff said the village will remove hazards that present a safety or infrastructure risk, but routine log removal has generally been volunteer-driven.
Committee members asked whether the village routinely removes logs and who would be responsible if professional removal were required; staff said costs and safety considerations would determine village involvement, and that access for heavy equipment would likely be through the disc-golf property.
