Project manager reports progress on Central Hardin Phase 2 and EC3; move-in and demolition dates set

Central Hardin Phase 2 work is advancing: Area D completed, Area J (Freshman Wing) is nearing completion with a planned Nov. 3 move-in; demolition and renovation of Areas G and H are scheduled and mass demolition is expected to take about five weeks. Steven Osborne, project manager for the Central Hardin High School and EC3 projects, presented a construction update to the Hardin County Board of Education.
Osborne said Area D was completed and handed over over the summer and Area J (the Freshman Wing) is nearing completion with furniture moving underway. He said the district expects occupants to begin moving into Area J on Nov. 3. Area G (which includes the cafeteria and kitchen) is slated for full demolition and rebuilding; Area H will be renovated. Mechanical contractors will begin disconnects and preparation work before mass demolition, which Osborne projected will start around the 17th and take roughly five weeks.
On EC3, Osborne noted substantial earth-moving with crews moving about 1,000 to 1,500 cubic yards of dirt per day and shared that students provided drone footage that helped illustrate progress at the site.
Osborne walked the board through punch-list work in Area J (ceiling grid installation, final corridor finishes), the timeline for remaining soffit and ceiling work, and exterior facade work. He invited board members and staff to coordinate site visits with project staff and the contractor.
Board members asked a few clarifying questions; no formal construction votes were taken during this presentation, and the meeting proceeded to the consent agenda.
