Board approves consent agenda including contracts, change orders and personnel actions

The Hardin County Board of Education approved a multi-item consent agenda at its evening meeting, covering contracts, construction change orders, personnel actions and policy revisions.

Items listed by the chair for approval included an HCEC TV contract with Brandenburg Telecom for live sports production, a speech therapy services contract not to exceed $100,000 per year, modified schedules for students with disabilities, the student services year-end report, financial reports and orders of the treasurer, approval of fiscal year 26 indirect cost rates, change orders 5 through 9 for the West Hardin project, BG4 forms for bid packages for phase 1 of the Central Hardin High School renovation, a change order for phase 2 of Central Hardin, and an updated architect contract for the EC3 expansion project. The agenda also included school-wide fundraisers, certified and classified personnel actions, an assistant esports coach position (contingent on the sport having at least 20 regular participants), a policy revision on absences and new attendance procedures, and approval of signage for North Hardin High School's Ron Bevers Gymnasium.

An unidentified board member moved to accept the consent agenda and the chair seconded. The chair called for the vote; all present responded "Aye," and the chair declared the motion carried.

The board had no new business after the vote. The chair also announced upcoming meetings and events including a tax hearing and special board meeting at Central Office on Aug. 27 (6:00 p.m. tax hearing, 6:30 p.m. special meeting), the first day for preschool students on Aug. 28, KSBA fall regional meeting at Hart County High School, Labor Day office closure on Sept. 1, the next board meeting on Sept. 18 (lunch at GC Burkhead; evening meeting at Central Office), and the HCS distinguished alumni luncheon at EC3 on Sept. 25.

Outcome: consent agenda approved; no recorded opposition.
