During the superintendent's report, district staff encouraged families to use the next six months to prepare children for kindergarten by practicing language and communication, independence with personal care and transition skills.

"When your students come to kindergarten, they do need to be able to complete some tasks independently, such as using the restroom, dressing, and eat independently," the presenter said. Staff added that children should be able to use complete sentences to express needs and to handle the word "no" without extended behavioral disruptions. The presenter noted that if a child has a disability that prevents independent restroom use, that is an exception.

District staff said short guidance materials are available at central offices and recommended families practice routines to ease morning drop-off, lunch transitions and classroom changes. No board action was required; the segment served as an informational family-engagement update.
