Hardin County Schools honors three school resource officers with regional and national awards

The Hardin County Schools Board of Education on Tuesday adopted a resolution recognizing three school resource officers for recent honors and thanked law-enforcement partners for their support of district safety efforts.

During the meeting, a board member asked the board to approve a resolution recognizing Central Hardin High School resource officer Larry Robinson, North Hardin High School resource officer Timmy Walker and Hardin County deputy Javier Guay. The motion to adopt the resolution passed without recorded opposition.

Speaker 3 said Robinson was named the Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers— School Resource Officer of the Year and that Walker earned the Region 2 School Resource Officer of the Year award. Guay was noted as the recipient of the National Association of School Resource Officers—s Bridge the Gap Award "in honor of his commitment to bridging the gap between youth and law enforcement." The board invited the officers to come forward for a photo.

Board members thanked partner agencies, specifically the Elizabethtown Police Department and the Hardin County Sheriff—s Office; Chief Jeremy Thompson of Elizabethtown and Hardin County Sheriff John Ward were introduced as present at the meeting. "We treasure our partnerships," a board speaker said, noting officers "go above and beyond every day to protect our students and our staff."

The recognition was purely ceremonial; no policy changes or funding authorizations were attached to the resolution.
