The committee approved a single-read change to policy IKFE to note diploma eligibility for students with IEPs will be reviewed annually by the IEP team, and unanimously approved minutes from Nov. 18, 2025.
The Grafton school committee voted Dec. 9 to adopt a change to policy IKFE clarifying how diploma eligibility will be reviewed for students with individualized education plans. The amendment adds language that the IEP team will annually review diploma eligibility and consider course of study, progress toward graduation requirements and necessary accommodations or alternative pathways.
A board member moved to approve policy IKFE in a single read; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call. Committee members said the change addressed long-standing concerns about ensuring individualized routes to graduation for students with IEPs.
Earlier in the meeting the committee moved, seconded and approved the minutes of the Nov. 18, 2025 meeting by roll-call vote. Recorded ayes during the minutes vote included Laura Austin, Kristy Kavazynski, Stella Varlesikis, Rebecca Soko and Leora Brahm.
Committee members also discussed updating and distributing the district policy book to staff and scheduling annual reviews of policies prior to handbook publication.
