Dickinson County approves LED lighting retrofit to cut energy bills

The county estimated roughly $6,000 in annual energy savings and put the simple payback period at about six years. Commissioners discussed removing lower-priority buildings from the scope to reduce upfront cost and noted some buildings (notably Stirl Hall) may require electrical upgrades or backup power work that would add expense.
Commissioners approved a motion to move forward with the ROI Energy turnkey installation and to use remaining Stirl Hall capital where appropriate; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff said the vendor’s installation windows and incentive timelines make an early decision desirable and that the county would present a formal contract and schedule at the next meeting.
The vote authorizes staff to finalize vendor terms and proceed with the project; commissioners asked staff to return with final contract language, an exact project schedule and identification of any required electrical or generator upgrades before work begins.
