Committee presenter Mr. McCord said the committee—s work has included multiple community presentations and that, depending on development timing, areas such as Woodson's Reserve East and upcoming TriStar projects could add roughly 1,300 rooftops in nearby developments—equivalent to about 900 students K–12 by 2029 using district conversion factors. The presenter explained two competing junior-high scenarios: in one version, Wright's Landing would be assigned to York Junior High; in the other, Rotts Landing would go to Grand Oaks Junior High. Committee materials showed C2.1 and C2.10 mapping options at elementary and intermediate levels.
Trustees asked for granular numbers for small sections (e.g., how many junior-high students live in Wright's Landing). Mr. McCord said junior-high impacts were estimated at about 61 students in a particular pocket and that Grand Oaks Junior High is being planned for roughly 800 seats with a possible opening enrollment in the 600–650 range depending on final zoning. The committee emphasized balancing capacity constraints, minimizing neighborhood splits and planning for future campuses when possible.
What comes next: the committee expects to return to the board in January with a recommended attendance boundary. The district said it will continue community outreach and publish materials for review before the final board decision.
