Delaware County Council used its Dec. 16 meeting to fill a range of board and commission seats, approving nominees for redevelopment, fair, Daleville economic board, tax abatement committee, animal care services, the alcohol beverage commission, and the property tax board of appeals.
For the Delaware County Redevelopment Commission (two seats), nominees on the slate included Danielle Castle/Kessel, Amber Green, Chester Kendrick, Scott Ratliff and Rob Kiesling. Amber Green introduced herself, saying she currently serves as DCRC president and would “love to be reappointed” to see several projects through. Council votes resulted in the appointment of Amber Green and Rob Kiesling.
The fair board appointment (three-year term) went to Mark Kiesling after discussion; Amber Green had also been a candidate and acknowledged the contribution of the incumbent. The Daleville economic board seat went to Matt Porter. Council also appointed a three-member tax abatement committee (including Josh Perkins and Joe Barr), Scott Ratliff to Animal Care Services, Douglas Hutchinson to the Alcohol Beverage Commission (reappointment), and Kerry Wigley to the Property Tax Board of Appeals (democratic-balanced seat).
Council reviewed terms, confirmed whether certain boards must be balanced politically, and asked clarifying questions about term lengths before taking roll-call votes. Beasley and Gilkeson were also approved as county council attorney for one year by acclamation, with partner Aubrey Crist named as a secondary contact in the draft agreement.
These appointments were handled as routine business during the council’s appointments and committee reports section of the agenda.
