A district administrator presented a broad update on Edwardsburg Public Schools' implementation of the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP), describing multi-year goals, completed strategies and the district's ongoing monitoring plan.
The presenter summarized the district plan as the umbrella for school improvement goals, noting two primary goal areas: academic growth/proficiency (English and math) and multi-tiered systems of support for student behavior (PBIS). He said many original strategies from the current MICIP cycle—summer tutoring, remediation opportunities, MTSS integration and PBIS staff training—have been completed and the district is now focused on monitoring progress and refining strategies.
The district described a three-times-per-year review cycle for the district team with a midyear data review in January and a capstone meeting scheduled for April 13. The presenter credited prior leadership for organizing the improvement process and highlighted support from regional MICIP coordinators (Dorothy Blackwell was named). The presentation emphasized stakeholder feedback loops and school-level teams that refine strategies in alignment with district goals.
Board members had no substantive objections in the session and thanked the presenter for the overview; the presenter closed by asking for questions and wishing attendees a happy Thanksgiving.
