Elko County trustees approve attendance, travel and vacation policy updates

Elko County School District trustees on a voice vote approved three policy updates meant to clarify attendance zones and employee reimbursement and leave rules.
Mister Anderson, the superintendent during the meeting presentation, said the revised ADB policy (renamed to avoid confusion with federal ADA rules) is a step to "lay the groundwork" for next school year and will be refined after administrators prepare variance application materials. The board then approved the policy by voice vote.
Trustees also approved proposed provisions to policy DHF governing travel and other employee reimbursements after a prior first reading; Anderson said no additional substantive changes had been made since the earlier discussion. The board moved and passed the measure by voice vote.
A second-reading approval followed for GCC07, revisions that update vacation language for unlicensed employees to reflect provisions from the district's negotiated agreement in 2023. Anderson said the change primarily aligns policy text with prior bargaining outcomes.
Board action was routine: motions were made and seconded and the chair announced the motions passed. In related proceedings the board approved accounts-payable items; trustees disclosed potential conflicts (including a noted family relationship to a vendor) and one trustee abstained on a bus-transport payment. No legislative or contract-level changes were adopted that night beyond the policy amendments; specific implementation details or application forms were described as "to be developed" by administrators and returned for further review.
The items will be reflected in the district's policy manual and will be subject to the additional procedural work Anderson described before they take full effect.
