After reconvening from closed session, the El Campo ISD board reported on several district projects and personnel matters.
Superintendent evaluation: The chair said trustees will receive an online superintendent-evaluation document to complete; results will be compiled by a staff member, and the board tentatively scheduled a special meeting for Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the evaluation and conduct team training with the district attorney.
Elementary construction: The board heard that Pilasha Construction will issue advertisements for bids on the elementary construction project; once bids are returned the board expects to consider a guaranteed maximum price at the January meeting and, following approval, break ground.
High school construction: District staff reported initial phases are beginning to relocate utilities (gas, water, electricity) and that holding high-school summer school on that campus next summer is unlikely; staff outlined the need to complete construction documents and bid work before selecting a GMP and beginning major construction next year.
Personnel and calendar: The board said four employees have submitted voluntary early-resignation-incentive letters; the deadline for submissions is Jan. 16. Trustees were also presented a draft 2026'27 calendar targeting 172 instructional days, possible addition of a fall break, and use of early-release minutes to meet the required 76,500 minutes.
Next steps: Staff will return with bid results and a GMP recommendation and will finalize implementation timing for construction and staffing decisions.
