Joe Howarth, a resident of 27 Arendelle Drive, told the Evesham Township School District Board of Education during public comment that morning drop-off at Jaggard School has become unsafe as parents and some staff park on the street, narrow roads after recent snow, and parents hurriedly open car doors and cross the street to escort children.
"My street is directly behind Jaggard School," Howarth said. "There must have been 40 spaces open" when he drove through the lot, yet he and other residents have observed cars parked on the street, cars blocking driveways and, he said, one staff member parked in front of a fire hydrant all day. Howarth said he and neighbors are concerned about the safety of children and pedestrians during drop-off and asked the board to "look into" the situation and consider an announcement or remedy.
Howarth reported that, when residents contacted the school, "the school secretary said, you can't stop people from parking." The board did not take formal action during the meeting on the complaint; the chair closed public comment and moved to board announcements. No staff or district official offered a formal response on record during the meeting about next steps such as enforcement, signage, or coordination with the township for parking controls.
The resident framed the concern as a safety matter exacerbated by snow narrowing the roadway. The board's superintendent had earlier reminded the community about snow makeup dates but did not link that update to any parking enforcement action during the session. Board members and staff may follow up outside the public meeting; no timeline for a response was given on the record.
