Fairfield County Council presented a proclamation honoring Kathy Washington on her retirement from the county procurement department.
Ed MacArthur McCrory read the proclamation, which traces Washington's career in Fairfield County beginning as an administrative assistant in the finance department, service in accounts payable (2005), work as a fiscal analysis analyst, promotion to deputy procurement director in 2015, procurement manager in 2020, and appointment as procurement director in 2022. The proclamation cites Washington's membership in groups including the Government Finance Officers Association and the South Carolina Association of Government Purchasing Officials, completion of a revised county procurement manual with attorneys Boykin and Davis, and an award from the South Carolina Emergency Management Division for PA reimbursement work in July 2023. The text states she retired in September 2025.
"We are grateful for your time, commitment, and attention to detail to the Fairfield County procurement department and wish you the best in your retirement," the proclamation reads. Council expressed thanks and good wishes at the dais.
