An unidentified Green Valley resident told the Ironton City Council that recent street reconstruction on Karen Street and Cairn Street raised the roadway and created a steep (about 10%) pitch on her driveway, causing water to collect and threatening pipes and foundations.

She said multiple nearby properties had yard or structural collapses after the work and that stabilizing material was not placed on private properties. She reported a neighbor already had water in a hallway and said she expects more damage when heavy rains occur.

The resident also urged council members to consider elderly residents on fixed incomes if the city raises water bills, noting that a single-person monthly bill of about $78 is a hardship for people on fixed incomes.

Council members acknowledged the concerns and asked staff to check whether contingency funds or storm infrastructure issues might explain the pavement dips and drainage problems. The council scheduled follow-up via the regular channels (staff/mayor contact and planned committee work) but did not adopt any immediate remedial action at the meeting.
