The Jordan Public School District Board of Education on Nov. 10 opened its regular meeting with Jordan Pride Awards for two seniors and moved through routine business including donations, personnel updates and a substitute principal memorandum of understanding.
Activities director John introduced Naomi (honored for tennis) and Wilson Mendon (cross country), and invited head tennis coach Jill Bailey to summarize Naomi’s accomplishments. “Naomi Salzwedel served as our team, senior captain and number 1 singles player during her 2025 tennis season,” Bailey said, citing a 19–7 season record, four-year letter status, multiple Wright County all‑conference honors and a state tournament appearance. (The transcript also records the honoree’s name as Naomi Salisbury in one place; the record contains inconsistent spellings.)
The board reviewed and approved a consent agenda that included October minutes, monthly financial reports and donations from community organizations (examples recorded in the meeting: Fitzpatrick Media Group $1,000; Jordan Fire Department $1,800; Jordan Commercial Club $351 for Wheels Up Wednesday; others). Personnel actions on the consent agenda included new hires for special education paraprofessionals and several coaching positions, a resignation from a speech and language pathologist and a leave of absence for a specialized paraprofessional.
The board reviewed a substitute principal MOU for Rose (the transcript contains inconsistent renderings of the surname, recorded at different points as Rose Gold Branson and Rose Galbrandsons). Board members noted a typographical date error in the MOU (listed as 01/05/2026 to 05/29/2025); Superintendent Evenson said staff will correct the date and proceed. The board approved the MOU by voice vote.
Superintendent Evenson also delivered administrative updates: upcoming theater performances (middle school production and a high school staging of "Anne of Green Gables" the weekend of Nov. 21–23), the district float at the Dazzle Parade on Dec. 6, and that the district’s Wheels Up Wednesday program qualified for an MSBA School of Excellence showcase at the MSBA Leadership Conference.
Student representative Henry gave a brief student report noting elementary PTO fundraising success, Veterans Day programming and middle-school and high-school activities including a recent blood drive and winter-sports ramp-up.
