Jackson Public Schools used the announcement to highlight several district community programs: a reading fair at Cardozo Middle School, recognition of an Alice Clark award recipient at McLeod Elementary, a multi-day blood drive partnership, and a large coat donation to Boyd Elementary.
Unidentified Speaker 2 said "Hundreds of scholars filled Cardozo Middle School for our annual reading" and noted students dressed as characters from books. A student speaker, Unidentified Speaker 4, offered a first-person remark about a favorite series.
The district announced a McLeod Elementary teacher received the Alice Clark award for "going above and beyond for their scholars," and Unidentified Speaker 3 said they were "honored and humbled" to receive the award after 18 years of service.
On health outreach, Unidentified Speaker 1 said the district is holding three days of blood drives with the American Red Cross and the Sickle Foundation to raise sickle cell awareness and collect donations; the announcement said that the program yields scholarships and that three JPS public schools ranked in the Red Cross national top 10. On winter support, Unidentified Speaker 2 said FedEx Cares volunteers partnered with Operation Warm to donate 462 new coats to scholars at Boyd Elementary School.
The district closed by directing listeners to its website and social media for more information.
